Job Summary
HS English (Dual Credit) Teacher responsible for planning and delivering rigorous instruction aligned with district curriculum, preparing lesson plans, assessing student learning, facilitating dual credit coursework, and supporting student growth. Requires a Bachelor’s degree, valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements, ESL certification within one year, and at least one year of student teaching or internship. Responsibilities include developing lessons, adapting instruction for diverse learners (IEPs), using technology to enhance learning, supervising teacher aides/volunteers, managing classroom environment, communicating with parents and colleagues, and contributing to extracurricular activities as needed. Strong knowledge of core English content, curriculum standards, and TEA guidelines is required; experience with dual credit and advising on scope and sequence is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
- ESL Certification within one year of employment
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Teaching certification held in multiple areas is preferred
- At least one year of student teaching or an approved internship
