Job Summary
The Head Coach leads a 9-12 athletic program at Clatskanie School District, cultivating an integrity-driven program culture, recruiting students, coordinating transportation and finances for contests, and managing budgets and equipment. Responsibilities include organizing practices to develop skills and game strategy, ensuring student-athlete academic achievement, collaborating with the Athletic Director and district staff, hiring and supervising assistants, maintaining open communication with students, parents, and coaches, and upholding district policies and athletic objectives. The role requires coaching experience, NFHS OSAA certification, CPR/First Aid, background checks, and the ability to obtain a Type 10/20 vehicle license if needed, with duties spanning program oversight, budgeting, fundraising, equipment care, and compliance with OSAA and district procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in and/or knowledge of the sport, coaching techniques, and student supervision
- Coaching experience preferred. NFHS coach certification required according to OSAA rules
- Ability to effectively work and communicate in verbal and written modes with student/athletes, parents, assistant coaches, and other school staff
- Ability to perform coaching responsibilities in accordance with school and District procedures and policies
- Must have current CPR/First Aid certification
- Must have current OSAA required certifications and Training courses for Oregon High School Coaches
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons
- The ability to work harmoniously with others
- Successfully pass background checks
- Ability to obtain Type 10/20 license to be able to drive the school vehicles to and from activities if needed.
