Job Summary
Manage enterprise payroll operations and HRIS administration for over 1,200 employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing. Lead the ADP system implementation, migration, and ongoing administration, including cutover planning, dual-system management, and cross-functional integrations with ERP and talent systems. Conduct root-cause analysis on payroll errors, develop standard operating procedures, and provide mentorship to site-level HR teams to improve organizational readiness. Serve as the primary administrator for the new payroll platform, handling complex processing for bonuses, merit, and specialized tax calculations while maintaining system security and user access.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 7–10+ years of progressively responsible experience in managing payroll processes and HRIS within a multi-site, multi-state organization
- Minimum of 3–5 years leading administration of large-scale HRIS and payroll systems
- Demonstrated experience managing payroll for 1,000+ employees across multiple states
- Hands-on experience leading or playing a key role in an enterprise HRIS/payroll implementation, migration, or major system upgrade
- Experience serving as a system administrator for an enterprise HRIS and payroll platform (ADP experience strongly preferred)
- Experience developing payroll policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), internal controls, and governance frameworks
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, organizational restructures, or rapid organizational growth is preferred
- Extensive knowledge of: Multi-state payroll administration
- Extensive knowledge of: Federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Extensive knowledge of: Wage and hour laws (FLSA)
- Extensive knowledge of: Garnishments, child support, tax levies, and bankruptcy orders
- Extensive knowledge of: FMLA, LOA, PTO, and payroll implications
- Extensive knowledge of: W-2 processing and year-end payroll requirements
- Extensive knowledge of: HRIS administration, security, workflows, and configuration
- Extensive knowledge of: Timekeeping systems and payroll integrations
- Extensive knowledge of: HR data governance and data integrity best practices
- Understanding of SOX or other internal control environments is preferred
- Working knowledge of HR, payroll, finance, and ERP system integrations
- Advanced experience with enterprise payroll and HRIS platforms (ADP)
- Strong HRIS system administration experience, including: Security roles
- Strong HRIS system administration experience, including: Workflow configuration
- Strong HRIS system administration experience, including: Business process management
- Strong HRIS system administration experience, including: User access administration
- Strong HRIS system administration experience, including: Data imports/exports
- Strong HRIS system administration experience, including: Reporting
- Experience managing system integrations between HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, benefits, ERP, ATS, and other business applications
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
- Experience with reporting tools, audit reporting, and data validation
- Comfortable working with large data sets and performing root cause analysis
- Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-wide payroll operations without direct processing responsibility at every location
- Strong project management skills with experience supporting complex cross-functional initiatives
- Proven ability to develop standardized processes while balancing local operational needs
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Desired Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management certification
- Experience with ADP implementation projects
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or other multi-location environments
- Experience working with API integrations and HR technology ecosystems
