Job Summary
Process weekly payroll for all employees, produce certified reports for state submission, and maintain accurate attendance and timesheet data. Administer employee benefits programs, oversee performance reviews, and handle disciplinary actions while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. Conduct safety audits, investigate accidents and near misses, and lead weekly toolbox talks to maintain OSHA compliance. Track safety metrics, coordinate workers' compensation, and verify proper use of personal protective equipment. Maintain confidential HR files and employee records. Monday to Friday; 7:00AM - 4:00PM.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3+ years of safety experience in plumbing, construction, utilities, excavation, sewer, or related trades
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards
- 5 years experience in payroll processing and HR functions, preferably in a construction or trades industry
- Strong knowledge of payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of labor laws, tax regulations, and benefits administration
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels
- Ability to work in an office environment with occasional visits to our warehouse location
- Must be able to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with construction or trades-specific payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, ADP Workforce Now, etc.)
- Knowledge of certified payroll requirements
- Previous experience in a plumbing and excavation company or similar field
