Job Summary
HR Manager / HR Business Partner leading employee relations, performance management, terminations, and compliance for a commercial bank and affiliated private entities. Heavy emphasis on risk management, policy governance, and infrastructure development, with a hands-on, business-facing approach that supports executives and managers through difficult personnel decisions. Partners with external counsel as needed, ensures California employment law compliance, maintains HR policies and the employee handbook, and delivers manager training to drive consistent, lawful, and timely actions while maintaining a high-trust culture.
Required Qualifications
- Significant HR leadership experience in banking or regulated financial environment
- Deep experience handling employee relations, terminations, and compliance matters
- Strong comfort working directly with executives and senior leadership
- Ability to balance legal risk with business realities
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence
- Practical, no-drama approach to HR
- 8+ years in HR leadership, HR Business Partner, or HR Manager roles
- Banking or financial services experience strongly preferred
- Experience navigating change, restructures, mergers, or organizational cleanup a plus
- Strong working knowledge of California employment law required
