Job Summary
Direct the end-to-end hiring process for lawyers and administrative staff while forecasting staffing needs to match practice areas and growth strategies. Oversee annual performance reviews, structure competitive benefit packages, and administer salary benchmarking relevant to the Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver legal markets. Advise senior leadership on organizational strategy and serve as the primary advisor on employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace culture. Ensure HR policies adhere to employment standards across jurisdictions and manage the HR budget through the HRIS system. Design onboarding and continuous career development paths for associates and staff. Act as the first point of contact on all HR matters from vacation requests to strategic vision alignment. This permanent, full-time role reports to the CEO at our boutique law firm, which practices in Tax, Corporate, Estate, Trust, and Family Law across three offices.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years+ progressive experience in Human Resources leadership
- Post-secondary degree and/or certificate from a recognized HR program
- Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment and human resources fields
Desired Qualifications
- Industry experience in a professional office setting an asset (Accounting, Law, Engineering, Dental, Medical, Architecture)
- CPHR or equivalent designation an asset
- Experience with an HRIS system (BambooHR, Rise, Humi, etc)
