Job Summary
Conduct recruitment efforts for exempt, nonexempt, intern, student, and temporary personnel while managing new hire orientations and career pathing programs. Administer human resource plans, policies, and procedures including the employee handbook, FMLA, and Workers Compensation programs. Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement, and exit interviews, and assist with representation at grievance and unemployment hearings. Explain benefits programs, enroll and terminate coverage, and maintain compliance with federal, tribal, state, and local employment laws. Develop affirmative action programs, file EEO-1 reports, and manage the UNHS HealthSource database. Conduct pre-employment background screenings, drug/alcohol testing, and salary market surveys every two years. Document trends in turnover, exit interviews, and workplace issues. Act professionally with medical providers, maintain strict confidentiality of patient and business information, and communicate complaints only through the management chain of command.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in HR Management
- Five years of practical work experience in the HR field or any similar combination of education and experience
- SHRM Certified Professional or SHRM Senior Certified Professional
- Current driver's license
- Vehicle insurability requirements
- First aid & CPR certification
- Annual flu vaccination
- Fluent reading, writing, and speaking of the English language
- General math skills
- Ability to reason and creatively problem solve
- Ability to interact with co-workers, managers, administration, and medical staff in a professional and courteous manner
- General computer skills
- Knowledge and ability to use the Microsoft Software suite
- Ability to learn new software applications, such as UNHS's NextGen software
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in HR Management (Preferred)
- Five years of practical work experience in the HR field or any similar combination of education and experience (Preferred)
- SHRM Certified Professional or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (Preferred)
