HR Generalist

Job Summary

Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to employees and managers regarding policies, benefits, payroll, leave, and employment questions. Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data while processing hires, transfers, compensation updates, and separations. Coordinate full-cycle recruiting activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and offer preparation. Support payroll and timekeeping processes by reviewing timecards, deductions, and leave balances for accuracy. Assist with benefits enrollment, FMLA administration, and workplace investigations. Prepare HR reports, track key metrics, and identify opportunities to improve HR processes and system utilization. Collaborate with hiring managers and leadership to support staffing needs and organizational priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Three (3) or more years of progressive experience in human resources, payroll, recruiting, benefits administration, or a related HR function
  • Hands-on experience using at least one major HRIS, payroll, or human capital management platform
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR practices, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, COBRA, and wage-and-hour requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion and sound judgment
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Occasional extended hours to support payroll deadlines, employee matters, open enrollment, recruitment activities, or other business needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with modern human resources information systems and supporting regulated, public-sector, education, or healthcare organizations
  • Experience with UKG, ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, or Workday
  • HR work experience within government, public-sector organizations, school districts, education, healthcare, or similarly regulated environments
  • Experience supporting payroll, benefits, recruiting, employee relations, compliance, and HRIS administration in a generalist capacity
  • Experience with HR data reporting, system implementations, process improvement, or workflow automation
  • Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
