Job Summary

Serve as the primary HR point of contact for staff and partners on policies, recruitment, performance management, and labor relations. Administer HR programs including benefits, leaves, and recognition while coordinating payroll transactions and entering personnel data into the HRIS. Manage the full onboarding lifecycle, from resume screening and background checks to orientation and work-eligibility verification. Escalate complex employee relations or compliance issues to management and ensure all sensitive personnel records remain accurate and confidential.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience
  • Knowledge of HR functional areas including recruitment, HRIS, employee relations, leaves of absence, benefits, compensation, classification, and risk management
  • Knowledge of Federal and state employment law, including ADA/ADAAA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, EEO/AA, COBRA, HIPAA, Labor Law, OSHA, and workers' compensation
  • Knowledge of Business communication principles and modern office practices
  • Knowledge of HRIS platforms and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to Build and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships across a diverse workforce
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally at all levels
  • Ability to Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound discretion with sensitive information
  • Ability to Define problems, gather data, and draw valid, defensible conclusions
  • Ability to Work independently and collaboratively, prioritizing effectively amid shifting and ambiguous demands
  • Ability to Adapt to and adopt new HR technology, including AI-assisted tools, to improve efficiency and service delivery
  • Ability to Travel between MAAC worksites and offsite locations as needed to provide support
  • Must have a physical examination and a drug screen by a doctor/clinic designated by MAAC prior to the first day of employment
  • Must have and maintain a valid California Driver's License
  • Must have daily use of a personal, insured vehicle
  • Must have and maintain a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to MAAC's insurance carrier
  • Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance
  • Must have a signed criminal record statement
  • Must have a signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form
  • Must have immunization records for influenza, pertussis and measles as required by state and federal regulations

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management
  • Two (2) years of progressively experience in the HR field
  • Supervisory experience
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designation
  • Experience in organizations with labor unions
  • Experience in a non-profit setting
  • Knowledge of JazzHR and Paycor
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted HR tools and a willingness to build fluency in emerging HR technology and automation
  • Experience in a non-profit setting
