HR Generalist, Classification & Position Management

Job Summary
Assign and oversee the Department’s classification, compensation, and position management programming by conducting detailed job studies, determining appropriate classifications, and guiding salary decisions in alignment with OSHR policy and funding requirements. Analyze job descriptions, position histories, job evaluation factors, benchmarks, and FLSA criteria to ensure accurate classification decisions. Ensure ADA compliance by identifying essential functions and physical demands and advising managers on reasonable adjustments. Assess qualifications for new hires and promotions, determine maximum qualifying salaries, and guide managers through salary decision-making while ensuring alignment with OSHR policy, internal equity, and complex funding structures including split-funded and receipt-supported positions. Partner with the Director of Human Resources on individual and group position studies, evaluate job structures, determine classifications, and provide detailed guidance on job design and organizational alignment. Serve as a backup for HR functions such as benefits, recruitment, and employee development as needed. The position qualifies for hybrid telework with routine office and up to one remote workday per week.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and 2 years of experience OR High school/GED and 5 years progressive HR experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

- ability to ensure ADA compliance in job descriptions and advise on reasonable adjustments
- ability to assess qualifications for new hires and promotions and determine salary guidance
- experience aligning decisions with OSHR policy, internal equity, and complex funding structures (including split-funded and receipt-supported positions)
- ability to collaborate with Director of HR and participate in position studies
- backup capability across HR functions including recruitment
- familiarity with BEACON entries and EEO/policy compliance
- good analytical and detail-oriented skills
- ability to operate in hybrid/remote work settings
