Job Summary
Human Resources Generalist in a mid-sized law firm based in Lewiston, ME, offering hybrid flexibility. Responsible for employee relations, HR operations, recruitment & onboarding for attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff; manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding processes, and background checks; advise management on performance and disciplinary actions; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; administer benefits, payroll support, and open enrollment; coordinate performance reviews, training, and staff development; maintain confidential personnel records and partner with leadership on workforce planning and succession strategies; interact with attorneys and leadership to support a professional services environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4–7 years of progressive HR experience
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Experience in a professional services or legal environment preferred
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
