Job Summary
HR Business Partner at Xavier University provides strategic and tactical HR consulting to administrators, supervisors, faculty, and staff. Partners with leadership to deliver workplace strategies that align with the HR strategic plan, advising on staffing projections, posting and advertising, screening and selection, position classification, salary targets, and talent development. Responsibilities include establishing relationships across HR, analyzing trends with the HR group, handling complex employee relations issues and investigations, ensuring regulatory compliance, collaborating with the legal department as needed, and proactively engaging in reorganizations and change management. The role requires professional HR expertise, confidentiality, maturity, and the ability to support division-wide and university-wide initiatives, with a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of HR experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues and/or HR leadership
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws

- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of constituents
- Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task with interruptions and changing priorities
