HR Administrator

Job Summary

Manage employee personnel files for compliance, create job postings, and oversee the agency's HRIS and ATS systems. Coordinate background screening, preboarding, and onboarding activities while administering student programs to build a talented candidate pool. Ensure HR filing systems are current and accurate, develop systems to track HR metrics, and prepare regular reports. Collaborate with the HR team to execute daily operations, implement policies, and provide administrative support including expense processing and backfill coverage. Complete projects within the department's strategic plan and respond to employment milestones. Work Monday to Friday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM, with occasional evenings and weekends required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • One (1) or more years of recent, relevant experience
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and manage relationships with a high level of professionalism
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with staff and external partners
  • Strong teamwork skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the pursuit of organizational goals
  • Strong time management, organizational, administrative and project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, make sound decisions and be held accountable for results
  • Demonstrated ability to be sensitive and understanding of individuals' social realities including issues of race, culture, religion, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, poverty and lifestyle
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, database systems, talent-search platforms, applicant tracking systems and web-based conferencing tools
  • Knowledge of labour and employment laws, including, but not limited to Employment Standards, Human Rights Code, Labour/Employee Relations
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Clearance
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and suitable driver's abstract/claims history
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel
  • Documentation that the applicant is legally authorized to work on an ongoing basis in Canada
  • Must be available for occasional evenings and weekends
