Job Summary
Provide Red Hat Enterprise Linux/SE Linux based HPC services throughout the lifecycle for computational requirements, architecture, acquisition, and operations to federal government customers. Port, optimize, and parallelize codes to user requirements while conducting system performance analysis through benchmarking, tuning libraries, and investigating scientific software issues. Mentor junior team members via code reviews and career guidance, and design training workshops to help end-users adopt HPC tools and best practices. Work onsite with the Technical User Support team, program Chief Scientist, and customers to design solutions for modeling, simulation, and data requirements. This mid-level role supports the Space team's R&D customer contract, focusing on achieving faster "time to science" using best practices for the program's secure computing environment and research storage systems.
Required Qualifications
- Current U.S. Citizenship
- Active Top Secret/SCI with a CI Poly required to start
- Bachelor's degree in STEM related discipline
- Minimum of 10 years of professional level experience
- Around 5 years of experience developing and using modeling and simulation software in heterogeneous, multi-platform environments
- Working with HPC users workflow for mod/sim problems and GUIs
- Knowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC) environment and related technologies
- Demonstrated proficiency with Fortran, C, and/or C++
- Demonstrated proficiency with BASH and Korn
- Linux Operating System proficiency
- Ability to solve end-user computer system problems while working independently in a lab environment
- Proficiency in basic software practices such as coding standards, unit testing, and configuration management
- Strong ability to analyze, debug, and maintain the integrity of an existing code base
- Experience designing and delivering training workshops, tutorials, or onboarding material for HPC users and internal staff
- Onsite Full-time work arrangement
- Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week

Desired Qualifications
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or scientists, providing technical guidance, and conducting code review sessions
- Revision control software (CVS, SVN, Git)
- Build/install tools (e.g. CMake, Makefile, autoconf)
- Experience with Python and Perl
- GPU programming experience (e.g., CUDA, OpenCL)
- Agile process and JIRA
- AI/ML/Neural Networks experience
- Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work
