Job Summary
Lead the design, deployment, support, and continuous improvement of HPC infrastructure across the UK Data Centre, managing CPU and GPU platforms, storage systems, and networking hardware. Perform firmware and BIOS updates, oversee spare parts inventory, and coordinate vendor support for enterprise SAN, NAS, and DAS environments. Execute complex hardware troubleshooting, incident resolution, and lifecycle planning while maintaining technical documentation and operational procedures. Participate in infrastructure projects, system deployments, and an on-call support rota. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with Operations, Platform Engineering, and facilities teams to ensure platform stability and scalability. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- Strong experience supporting enterprise HPC infrastructure, including compute, storage, and data centre environments
- Strong Linux administration experience
- Experience diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and infrastructure issues
- Knowledge of HPC system architecture and enterprise server platforms
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools such as Zabbix
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide technical leadership and mentor other engineers
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting GPU-based HPC environments
- Experience with oil immersion cooling technologies
- Experience with scripting or automation languages
- Knowledge of computational thinking and infrastructure automation
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects within large-scale production environments
