Housing Specialist Supervisor

Job Summary
Develop individualized housing plans within 21 days of shelter entry and conduct intake interviews to determine client needs and eligibility. Assist participants in locating housing, applying lease contract knowledge, and connecting guests to resources for school enrollment, workforce development, and financial literacy. Mediate with landlords to develop workable housing plans, inspect units for HUD standards, and use shelter diversion techniques to resolve crises. Supervise Housing Support Workers and Cooks, complete monthly and annual performance evaluations, and collect program data via HMIS. Maintain accurate case records, establish staff schedules for 24-hour coverage, and serve as on-call supervisor for emergencies. Promote a trauma-informed, low-barrier environment while reducing average length of stay and increasing permanent housing exits.
Required Qualifications
- A degree in human services or a related field
- Two years of case management experience
- Five years of case management experience
- Ability to collaborate with other personnel, service providers, or professionals
- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively relate to a diverse client population experiencing a crisis
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure
- Able to work evenings and weekends as required
- Fluency in the English language
- High level of organizational skills
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite programs
- A valid driver's license
- A reliable vehicle or access to transportation
- Will respect and promote the interests of The Salvation Army
- Must complete KeepSAfe and other required training upon hire

- Spanish speaking ability
- Knowledge and belief in the Housing First philosophy and strategies
- Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population served
- Commitment to empowering others to solve their problems
- Commitment to racial equity and inclusion
- Demonstrated knowledge of community resources, social service agencies, and landlords
- Excellent communication skills, mainly listening, meditation, and writing
- Experience working with at-risk populations and people experiencing homelessness
