Housing Specialist - SSVF

Job Summary
Assist clients with the housing search process, including identifying suitable units, accompanying clients to view properties, advocating with landlords, and completing necessary paperwork. Provide tenancy support through tenant education and home visits, while serving as a housing resource for case managers in the Veteran Services Department. Research private market and supportive housing options, develop relationships with area landlords, and negotiate leases. Screen veterans for program eligibility, facilitate intake, and offer post-placement conflict resolution and mediation. Maintain client databases, generate reports, and ensure accurate data entry into the HMIS system. Attend scheduled team meetings and trainings. This role supports the Salvation Army's mission to meet human needs without discrimination, working with homeless and at-risk veterans and families.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Public or Business Administration or related discipline
- Minimum four years of related employment experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Clean driving record
- Own registered and insured vehicle for client visits
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with homeless and/or at-risk veterans and families
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of residents, staff, and community partners
