Job Summary
Housing Specialist responsible for guiding program participants to locate, acquire, maintain, and retain permanent housing; provide landlord outreach and advocacy; develop housing leads and complete housing subsidy program applications; maintain housing-related documentation and reports. Requires knowledge of NYC/NY State housing subsidy programs, ability to work with DHS, landlords, case managers, and housing providers; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to locate housing within budgets; proficiency with MS Word/Excel is helpful; must be able to work in a team, be highly organized, and manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- 1-2 years’ experience in a related field assisting people with homelessness and obtaining permanent housing
- Proficiency in English; bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
