Job Summary
Conduct housing assessments and develop individualized housing plans for a caseload of at least 20 clients. Coordinate housing searches, apartment viewings, lease signings, and appointments while interfacing with landlords to establish working relationships. Create and maintain a database of available housing and work with Social Services to identify potential clients. Resolve crises or conflicts with landlords to ensure compliance with housing laws and building codes. Guide clients through subsidy applications and documentation requirements for programs including CityFHEPS, FHEPS, SOTA, and HPD Section 8. Prepare housing packages and collaborate with Case Management staff on psycho-social applications.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Social Work, or other Human Services concentration
- Experience in Human Services, Case Management or Counseling
- Knowledge of NYC housing programs and subsidies, including CityFHEPS, HPD Section 8, HRA housing applications, SOTA, EOSD, and supportive housing
- Experience working with CARES and CurRent
- Work experience negotiating lease agreements with landlords and/or realtor management companies and providing housing for special needs populations
- Knowledge of applicable state and city housing and disability laws and codes
- Computer proficiency, Google Suite and Microsoft Office Programs, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Proficiency in email and database management
- Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
