Job Summary
Inspect properties to determine eligibility for repairs or weatherization assistance and survey dwelling conditions as assigned. Prepare work write-ups, bid specifications, and accurate cost estimates in accordance with HUD and County program rules. Perform energy audits and quality control inspections to ensure contractors meet bid specifications and environmental safety protocols. Monitor job progress, address potential problems, and review work to verify compliance with all rules. Provide homeowner education regarding housing energy efficiency and maintain organized inspection records. Act as a liaison between contractors, homeowners, and program staff while participating in staff development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in building/construction technology, construction management, engineering, or other related degrees
- Two (2) years of experience in home construction, home weatherization, home rehabilitation services, home inspection services, or a construction related field
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to become a certified Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor within 6 months of employment
- Ability to become a certified Lead Supervisor within 6 months of employment
- Ability to become a certified Asbestos Inspector through a State of Michigan program within 6 months of employment
- Ability to become a BPI certified Energy Auditor within 9 months of employment
- Ability to become a BPI Certified Quality Control Inspector within 9 months of employment
- Comfort with climbing ladders
- Ability to lift
- Ability to enter confined spaces as part of the inspection process
- Ability to perform Essential Job Duties and Functions with or without reasonable accommodations
Desired Qualifications
- Experience preferably in an agency providing housing rehabilitation services and/or weatherization service to low-income individuals
