Job Summary
Provide early identification and intervention for behaviors jeopardizing housing, such as late payments or lease violations. Coach tenants on rights, responsibilities, and landlord relationships while coordinating with property managers to address stability issues. Assist with benefits advocacy, SSI applications, and annual recertifications, and help resolve disputes to prevent eviction. Conduct health and safety visits, support crisis plans, and teach life skills including budgeting and financial literacy. Monitor program effectiveness and conduct tenant satisfaction surveys.
Required Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. in social work or a related field
- two years' experience working in social services
- Understanding of the Santa Cruz County Housing/Rental market
- Read, speak, write and understand English well enough to follow and share the regulations, requirements and communications for providing support to the tenants
- Able to effectively present information and respond to questions
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience assisting individuals suffering from chronic homelessness
