Job Summary
Accept and process residents staying in shelter overnight, monitoring their activity to ensure safety, security, and compliance with house rules. Maintain accurate records and logs, ensure the facility remains neat and properly ordered, and verify that all rooms are in proper condition before and after resident arrival. Check fire equipment, secure all windows and doors, monitor cameras, and conduct periodic rounds of the entire facility. Respond to emergencies calmly by initiating corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Complete required paperwork for client intake, input data into the computer to maintain records and generate client lists, and prepare, tally, and balance monies with receipts before depositing funds in the safe.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- one year experience performing security work or working in a social service environment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior
- Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures
- Ability to meet attendance requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
- Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action
- Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis
- Knowledge of gneral office procedures and practices
- Knowledge of basic recordkeeping practices and procedures
