Job Summary
Housing Manager for NYCHA Leased Housing Certification Unit. Manages certification-related duties including reviewing repairs, rent adjustments, and terminations for non-compliance with HUD standards. Supervises a team of 2 Assistant Managers, 7 Housing Assistants, and 1 Consultant; analyzes productivity, generates progress reports, and coordinates with other departments. Responsible for calculating Section 8 subsidy adjustments, ensuring policy adherence, and handling inquiries from advocates, voucher holders, and property owners. Requires independent initiative, strong administrative leadership, and familiarity with HUD/Leased Housing procedures. Eligible applicants may be considered under NYCHA’s 55-a Program; promotional opportunities and transfers within NYCHA are noted.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and three years of full-time supervisory/administrative experience in housing management at developments with at least 150 apartments (interviewing applicants, determining eligibility, collecting rents, resolving tenant problems) or a four-year high school diploma/equivalent with six years of similar experience or a satisfactory combination as described. Undergraduate credits may substitute for experience with a 30-credit to 1-year rule. Must have four-year high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to supervise staff (2 Assistant Managers, 7 Housing Assistants, 1 Consultant) and manage workload, analyze data, and generate reports.
