Job Summary

The Housing Manager oversees operations for the senior living community, including leasing activity, renewals, collections, financial reporting, supplies, and resident communications, while delivering high levels of customer service. Responsibilities include advising on housing facility goals per HUD Handbook 4350.3 and MAP procedures, processing new resident certifications and move-ins, annual or pre-move-in verifications (income, assets, medical expenses), maintaining wait lists, collecting rent, reconciling invoices, budgeting with the Regional Manager, submitting HUD vouchers and reports, coordinating with vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with Fair Housing and AFHMP, and managing staff and communications. The role also covers program outreach, resident engagement programs (RSVP), maintaining occupancy targets, and ensuring safety and emergency procedures are followed. The ideal candidate will have strong management, budgeting, accounting, and interpersonal skills, experience with HUD policies and subsidies, and be highly organized and detail-oriented.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
  • Two (2) years of business office experience
  • Computer Skills: Proficient at computer use, Internet, Microsoft Office, HUD and internal accounting software
  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) certification a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Prior experience with subsidies, HUD policies, Section 8, Section 236, EIV, and/or tax credits highly desired
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve interpersonal challenges and conflicts
  • English language proficiency and ability to read/interpret instructions and manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Numerical competence (basic arithmetic)
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, flexible and adaptable; able to multitask
