Job Summary
Provide practical help, mentoring, and direct assistance to help clients obtain skills for daily independent living. Promote health and wellness by assisting clients with accessing medical care, nutrition, and exercise resources. Work within a multidisciplinary team to guide residents through legal concerns and intervene in potential crisis situations using trauma-informed verbal de-escalation techniques. Educate clients on harm reduction principles, including access to safe injection supply kits when requested. Develop and implement safety response plans as needed while engaging in client-centered, Housing First frameworks. Join Eliot's Low Threshold Housing Team, which provides onsite supportive services including recovery coaching and wrap-around case management. Candidates with lived experience in substance use disorders are strongly encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human services or related field required
- High school diploma/GED
- At least one year of paid or volunteer experience working with adults with mental illness and/or substance abuse
- Strong commitment to substance use recovery and housing first philosophy
- Skills to establish supportive relationships with persons with mental illnesses/substance use and respect for their preferences for treatment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of area resources/providers, housing navigation, and tenancy preservation are a plus
- Candidates with lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply
- For candidates with lived experience with substance use disorder who have 2 years sustained sobriety
