Housing Counselor - Bilingual

Job Summary
Conduct face-to-face housing counseling for low-to-moderate income families in Philadelphia across pre-purchase, rental, mortgage delinquency, and post-purchase phases per HUD guidelines. Create and maintain client files in the Database RX office, prepare action plans, and follow up with clients timely. Participate in weekly DHCD Diversion Court sessions and assist the Housing Director with report preparation. Interact with mortgage servicers, realtors, and landlords to secure housing resources and preserve homeownership. Maintain accurate records in the Counselor Max system, travel locally for trainings, and work off-site or off-hours as needed. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of Two-year experience of providing housing counseling
- Must possess the ability to demonstrate a caring for the community
- Fluency in English and Spanish
- HUD and DHCD Diversion Court certified
- Must be able to pass the mandatory HUD housing counseling exam within 90 days of hiring
- Ability to maintain a caseload of clients including prompt and accurate maintenance of client's physical files documentation with attention to detail and confidentiality
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Willing to travel local and outside the state for trainings or meetings
- Work off-site or off-hours on occasion as needed
Desired Qualifications
- HUD and DHCD Diversion Court certified preferred
- National Certifications
- Familiarity with social service networks in Philadelphia
- Experience on data client system Counselor Max and RX experience preferred
- Must have a strong willingness to learn
- Possess excellent oral and written communication, customer service and presentation skills
