Job Summary
Housing Compliance Specialist to monitor regulatory compliance across VOANS’ affordable housing portfolio, coordinate audits/inspections, prepare transition from development to operations, manage compliance documentation (tenant certifications, first-year files) and liaise with management agents and monitoring agencies. Requires experience with HUD Multifamily programs and LIHTC, along with related certifications; duties include maintaining compliance systems, ensuring current income limits and fair housing practices, conducting site reviews, and providing training and technical assistance as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a minimum of five (5) years’ experience operating with HUD Multifamily Housing and LIHTC programs
- Prior experience with Tax Exempt Bond, HOME, CDBG, (N)HTF, USDA Rural Development Section 515, CMF, FDIC preferred
- Knowledge of landlord-tenant regulation and multifamily property management concepts
- HCCP, C3P, or a similar professional certification for LIHTC
- COS, CPO, or a similar professional certification for HUD Multifamily programs; internal candidates can obtain within first year
- FHC or similar professional certification for Fair Housing preferred (within two years of employment)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with RealPage OneSite property management software preferred
- Ability to identify complex compliance matters and communicate recommendations clearly
- Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team; strong written and verbal communication
