Job Summary
Conduct annual and interim recertification interviews with existing residents, updating resident information and executing leases between applicants and property owners. Calculate rental payments and utility allowances based on local fair market rents, while transmitting 50058 family reports and correcting errors in the HUD PIC system. Assist with day-to-day operations of the Housing Choice Voucher and Project Based Voucher programs, including quality control on case files and resolving resident or landlord issues. Contact prospective and current property owners to negotiate rents, and prepare monthly HCV transactions for transmittal to HUD systems. Operate a multi-line telephone system to answer inquiries and provide front desk coverage, referring applicants to community resource programs as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year high school
- Possession of a valid Tennessee Driver's License
- The ability to be insured at standard vehicle liability rates
- Experience working with individuals from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds
- Considerable experience performing administrative functions
- Good interpersonal skills
- Organizational skills
- Decision-making skills
- Considerable experience working with the public
- Knowledge in the areas of social service
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Suitable computer skills for data entry
- Good mathematical skills
- The ability to effectively prioritize activities required to meet all established deadlines and reporting requirements
- Housing Choice Voucher Occupancy Specialist certification
- Project Based Voucher Occupancy Specialist certification
Desired Qualifications
- An A.A Degree in public or business administration, social services or related field
- Supplemental experience in property management
