Job Summary
Strip dirty linens, towels, and terry from guest rooms, then clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using a vacuum, broom, and carpet shampoo machine. Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors; wash walls and ceilings; move furniture; and turn mattresses. Empty trash cans, collect soiled linen, receive linen supplies, and maintain housekeeping carts. Clean all public areas and service areas like poolside zones while following department standard operating procedures. Refill guest amenity stock, assist room attendants with heavy lifting and extra bed setup, and report missing items or damage to supervisors. Provide courteous guest service and communicate professionally with guests and employees. Maintain flexibility to take on new tasks as directed by the Department Manager and adhere to the required uniform and dress code.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Able to pass a background check
- Able to stand and walk on their feet for 95% of the shift
- Able to reach, bend, twist, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks as required
- Must be able to climb stairs with vacuum cleaner
- Able to push and pull carts and other equipment
- Regularly lifts 25 pounds and occasionally lifts 50 pounds
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
- Required to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to write simple correspondence
- Possess good verbal, written, and listening skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-directed, energetic, and efficient
- Knowledge of cleaning products and equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Six months' housekeeping experience or training preferred
- Prior housekeeping/ hotel experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent a plus
- Shampoo and floor cleaning a plus
