Job Summary
Houseparents live on campus at Milton Hershey School as Full-time Flex Houseparents, a two-person married couple role caring for 8–13 students in a home. They supervise daily routines, mentor students, administer medications, drive students to activities, plan and participate in developmental and recreational activities, lead daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and oversee budgeting and household reporting. The schedule initially runs nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual placement into a steady home with the same group of students.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and attending Sunday Chapel
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Additional Requirements
- Married couples only
- Two-spouse employment
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Must complete individual employment applications by both spouses
