Job Summary
Houseparents operate as Full-time Flex Houseparents on campus at Milton Hershey School, residing in on-campus student homes to supervise and guide 8–13 students, manage household routines, administer medications, drive students to activities, plan developmental and recreational activities, lead devotions and chapel, and manage budgeting/reporting. The role begins with a nine-on, three-off schedule and transitions to a placed houseparent living arrangement with the same group of students. The position requires a legally married two-person team, both spouses age 27+, high school diploma or GED, driver’s license and van-driving certification readiness, ability to lift 50 lbs, and a willingness to relocate to Hershey, PA with relocation assistance and paid training included. Compensation is approximately $46,917 per person (about $180,000 total per couple) plus comprehensive benefits, with housing and meals provided on duty.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Two-spouse two-year marriage required
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children in the home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Comfort leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel
