Job Summary
Milton Hershey School is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents, residing in on-campus student homes to supervise 8–13 students and provide care, guidance, supervision, and development opportunities. Responsibilities include daily supervision, mentorship, managing routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental/recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and budgeting with household reporting. Initially on a nine-days-on, three-days-off schedule across multiple homes, the role transitions into a Placed Houseparent serving the same student group in their own home. Relocation assistance and comprehensive benefits are provided. Candidates must complete individual applications for consideration, and both spouses must participate.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lead students in daily devotions and accompany them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
