Job Summary
Two-person, married-couple Houseparents needed at Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA to live in on-campus student homes (8–13 students per home) and provide care, supervision, mentorship, and support. Responsibilities include supervising, mentoring, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning/developing activities, leading daily devotions and Chapel attendance, budgeting and household reporting. Schedule initially consists of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with potential transition to a Placed Houseparent role living with the same group of students. Benefits include a per-person salary of $44,768 (approx. $168k total per couple with included housing/meals), relocation assistance, comprehensive insurance options, retirement savings, and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism in working with students
- Comfort leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
