Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School: a two-person, full-time role for legally married couples to reside in on-campus student homes, providing care, supervision, and guidance for 8–13 students. Responsibilities include supervising daily routines, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and reporting, and maintaining a structured, family-like environment. Schedule begins with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with eventual placement into a single student home. Compensation is per person ($44,768) with comprehensive benefits, plus relocation assistance and paid training. Requires experience with youth, a driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and commitment to a smoke-free, weapon-free campus; age and marital requirements apply for both spouses.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
