Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents for Milton Hershey School; married couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The role starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with potential transition to a placed houseparent living with the same student group. Relocation assistance and paid training are provided; salary per person is $46,917 with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-person role for married couples
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfort leading daily devotions and accompanying students to chapel services
- Mentorship and supervision of youth
- Experience with youth or volunteers with youth
- Ability to drive students to activities
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus
- No alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations as described
- Capacity to live in on-campus homes with students
- Commitment to a structured work schedule (nine days on, three days off)
- Proven integrity and professionalism
- High school diploma or GED
Additional Requirements
- Two-spouse couple must be legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- No alcohol on duty; campus is weapon-free
- Pet restrictions: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
