Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School: two-person full-time flex housing role on campus in Hershey, PA. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring 8–13 students per home, managing routines and schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and chapel, budgeting and reporting. Initial schedule is nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off; role transitions to placed houseparent living with the same group of students. Benefits include salary per person around $46,917 (approx. $180k total per couple), comprehensive health benefits, relocation assistance, paid time off, and training.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
