Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents at Milton Hershey School reside on-campus with a married couple and care for a group of 8–13 students in a home, providing supervision, mentorship, and support to foster academic, emotional, and social development. Responsibilities include supervising daily routines, managing student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing household budgeting and reporting. Initially duties follow a nine-on, three-off schedule across various student homes, with eventual placement into a single student home. Requires relocation to Hershey, PA, for a two-person, married-couple role; salary is $46,917 per person (~$180,000 total per couple with benefits) with comprehensive medical/dental/vision, retirement, and paid time off; relocation assistance and paid training provided.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
