Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School (MHS) seek married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents on campus in Anderson, IN. Couples reside in student homes, supervise and mentor 8–13 students, manage household routines, administer medications, drive students to activities, lead devotions and chapel, and oversee budgeting and reporting. Schedule starts with nine days on duty followed by three days off, with potential transition to a Placed Houseparent living arrangement. Benefits include housing, meals on duty, medical/dental/vision, life and disability insurance, retirement, relocation assistance, and paid time off. Requires high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and eligibility to be certified to drive student vans. Must be legally married for at least two years and both spouses be 27 or older. Eligible to work on-campus with a two-person, role-based structure.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
