Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School (MHS) are a two-person, married-couple role for Full-time Flex Houseparents living in on-campus student homes and supervising 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision and mentorship, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning from nine consecutive days on duty with three days off to a Placed Houseparent role with a stable student-home assignment. Benefits include salary of $44,768 per person (approximately $168,000 per couple with benefits), comprehensive health benefits, retirement, relocation assistance, training, and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two-year married requirement (spouses)
- Both spouses age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
