Job Summary
Full-time Flex Houseparents for Milton Hershey School. Married couples reside in on-campus student homes, providing care, supervision, mentorship, and support for groups of 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and leading development and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. Initially assigned to various student homes with a nine-days-on, three-days-off schedule, with eventual transition to a Placed Houseparent role living and working with the same group of students in their own home. Offers comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, and paid training. Salary is $44,768 per person (approximately $168,000 total per couple) plus housing, meals, and other benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
