Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School (MHS) invite married couples to join as Full-time Flex Houseparents on campus in Mount Vernon, IL. They reside in on-campus student homes, provide supervision, mentorship, and care for 8–13 students, drive to activities, plan developmentally appropriate activities, lead daily devotions, and support budgeting and reporting. The schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with potential transition to a Placed Houseparent role living with the same student group. Salary is $44,768 per person with comprehensive benefits, plus relocation assistance and paid training.
Required Qualifications
- Two-spouse couple must complete individual employment applications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- No significant disqualifying factors (smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty)
- Commitment to live and work with same group of students in their home (Placed Houseparent)
Additional Requirements
- Must be married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children in the home
