Job Summary
Houseparents (two-person, married-couple role) live in on-campus student homes at Milton Hershey School and provide daily supervision, mentorship, and care for a group of 8–13 students. Responsibilities include supervising routines, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and reporting, and transitioning from flexible to placed houseparent. Must be a legally married couple for at least two years, both spouses 27+, have a high school diploma or GED, and possess a valid U.S. driver's license with ability to become certified to drive student vans. Relocation assistance is provided; salary is $44,768 per person (approx. $168,000 total per couple) with comprehensive benefits and paid time off. Shift pattern starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with potential placement into a permanent houseparent role.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Two-spouse, legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism
