Job Summary
Houseparents provide daily supervision, mentorship, and household management for a group of ~8–13 students in on-campus homes. Responsibilities include supervising routines and schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Chapel attendance, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning from nine days on / three days off to a placed houseparent arrangement in a consistent, family-like environment. Requires experience with youth, ability to lift 50 lbs, valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to lead devotional activities, adherence to a smoke-free/weapon-free campus, and completion of individual applications by both spouses. Relocation assistance and paid training provided; salary per person is $46,917 with total compensation around $180,000 per couple, including housing/benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
