Job Summary
Houseparents - a full-time two-person role for married couples to live in on-campus student homes at Milton Hershey School, providing care, supervision, mentorship, and activities for a group of 8–13 students. Responsibilities include supervising daily routines, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, budgeting and reporting on household operations, and transitioning from flexible placement to a consistent housed team. Schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with potential transition into a placed houseparent role living with the same group. Relocation assistance and comprehensive benefits are provided; salary per person is $46,917 (approx. $180,000 total per couple) including housing and meals while on duty.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-spouse employment applications (both spouses)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Driver certification to operate student home vans
- Comfort leading devotions and Chapel services
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus
- No alcohol on duty
- Two-person married couple (at least two years)
- Age 27 or older for both spouses
- No more than three dependent children in home
