Job Summary
Houseparents provide care, supervision, mentorship, and guidance for a group of approximately 8–13 students living in on-campus homes. Responsibilities include daily supervision, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and household reporting, and transitioning from nine days on / three days off to a placed houseparent role living with the same student group. Requires a two-person, married-couple team, with on-campus, full-time duties and a benefits package including relocation assistance. Must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus and to Judeo-Christian activities along with leadership in student development.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- This is a two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must complete individual employment applications
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds allowed
