Job Summary
Milton Hershey School is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents located on-campus in Hershey, PA (and relocating as needed within campus housing) to supervise and mentor groups of approximately 8–13 students. Responsibilities include daily supervision, mentoring, managing household routines and student schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. The role starts with a nine-consecutive-days-on duty schedule followed by three days off, with progression to a Placed Houseparent living and working with the same student group in their own home. Compensation is approximately $46,917 per person (roughly $180,000 total per couple) plus comprehensive benefits, relocation assistance, and paid training/time off. Both spouses must apply individually for consideration.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
- Two-spouse, legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
