Job Summary
Houseparents for Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA are a two-person, full-time role for legally married couples living on campus to care for a group of 8–13 students in a home. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines and schedules, administering medications, driving to activities, planning developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and attending Sunday Chapel, and overseeing budgeting and household reporting. Schedule starts with nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with an eventual transition to a Placed Houseparent role living with the same group of students in their own home. Benefits include salary per person, comprehensive health benefits, relocation assistance, paid time off, and other perks. Qualifying experience with youth, a valid driver’s license, and a high school diploma or GED are required; both spouses must apply individually. Relocation to the on-campus homes is provided as part of the role.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; acts as role models for students
