Job Summary
Houseparents (two-person, married couple) provide on-campus care and supervision for 8–13 students in assigned student homes at Milton Hershey School. Responsibilities include supervising daily routines, mentoring students, administering medications, transporting students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel, overseeing budgeting and reporting, and maintaining a family-like, structured environment. The role starts with a nine days-on, three days-off schedule and progresses to a Placed Houseparent living with the same student group. Salary is $44,768 per person with comprehensive benefits and relocation assistance. Requires a high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license, ability to obtain driver certification for student vans, and a strong commitment to student success in a smoke-free and weapon-free campus. This is a full-time, two-person role for legally married couples who have been married at least two years.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-year married relationship for the couple
- Both spouses age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfort leading daily devotions and Sunday Chapel
- No smoking/alcohol on duty; campus rules
- Commitment to student development
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
