Job Summary
Houseparents provide care, supervision, and mentorship for a group of approximately 8–13 students living in an on-campus student home. This two-person, married-couple role entails living in a student home, directing daily routines and devotions, coordinating schedules, administering medications, driving students to activities, and planning developmentally appropriate recreational and spiritual activities. The position advances student well-being and academic, emotional, and social growth within a structured, family-like environment. Responsibilities include budgeting and household reporting; the role progresses from nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off to a Placed Houseparent assignment with a consistent student-home group. Required Qualifications
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Experience working or volunteering with youth
