Job Summary
Two-person, full-time Flex Houseparents role for married couples at Milton Hershey School. Couples reside on-campus in student homes, provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students, and supervise daily routines, activities, medications, transportation to activities, and meaningful development experiences. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring students, managing household routines and schedules, driving students to activities, planning and engaging in developmental and recreational activities, leading daily devotions and chapel participation, budgeting and reporting, and transitioning from initial nine-on-duty days to a placed houseparent arrangement living with the same group of students. The role includes relocation to Hershey, PA, comprehensive benefits, and relocation assistance; requires a valid U.S. driver’s license and the ability to obtain driver certification for student vans; high school diploma or GED; and a strong commitment to a safe, smoke-free, weapon-free campus. For consideration, both spouses must complete individual employment applications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two-person role for couples legally married for at least two years
- Both spouses must be age 27 or older
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Comfort leading students in daily devotions and accompanying them to Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
- Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
- Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol permitted while on duty
